Homemade Milk Bread

Ingredients

4 cups of all purpose flour

1/1/4 cup full cream milk

1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast

1 tsp salt

3 tsp sugar

butter for basting bread after baking


Directions

Put milk in a microwave for 1 minute to bring it up to temperature. Milk should be warm to the touch, not hot.

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl

Gradually add milk to dry ingredients while combining with a wooden spoon, spatula or your hand

Bring mixture together until a dough is formed

Turn dough out onto a floured surface then knead for 8 minutes

Place dough into a greased bowl and cover. Allow it to prove for 45 minutes or until doubled in size

Punch the air out of the dough then place on a floured surface

Use a rolling pin to roll dough out into a half inch thick rectangle

Use your hands to roll the dough onto itself making sure to tuck the seam in tightly with each roll

Place dough into a greased bread pan then cover

Allow dough to prove for 20 minutes

Place bread pan into a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes

Once the bread is out of the oven, baste with butter

Place bread on a cooling rack and allow to cool for at least 20 minutes before cutting
